Ten Years of Rumpled Jedi

TPM is ten years old. Who would have thought it!

I wasn't very impressed with this movie over all the first time I saw it. I say "over all" because there were a few things that impressed me. Like Jedi. Rumpled Jedi.

First off I noticed Qui-Gon. "Wow, he's handsome!" Then I noticed Obi-Wan. "OMG, he's adorable!"

Then they whipped out the lightsabers. OMG, I was in love. Jedi. :x Yes, I'm a Jedi Junkie. I admit it. I love those guys. The calmness, the inner peace, the strength, the Force, everything that I don't have.

Coruscant was awesome, Naboo was beautiful, Tatooine was miserable looking. Why was Shmi wearing such heavy clothing?

Anakin was cute for a kid, but obnoxious. The pod race was boring. Jar-Jar was just.... Well, he was Jar-Jar. If they'd dropped him off the waterfall in Theed right after they went through the core, things would have gone much smoother.

I looooved the lightsaber duel. "We'll handle this," Qui-Gon says. And Obi-Wan shrugs off his cloak and ignites his lightsaber with that calm, determined look on his face.

I think the most powerful scene was at Qui-Gon's memorial, when Mace says "Which was destroyed, the master or the apprentice?" and the camera zooms in on Palpatine's face. Prequel moment! I loved it.

Speaking of prequels, I finally saw "Star Trek" yesterday; woo hoo, what a ride! But it makes me wish there were more Star Wars movies in my future. Sigh

You noticed Qui-Gon first?! :^O

Where was I when this happened? ;)

The lightsabers, the dedication to peace and justice, the power they can radiate through those eyes...

Sunburns are painful!! :^O

The pod race was boring.

I liked the pod race! It reminded me of a chariot race, and those are always the best part of any old Roman movie...

Jar-Jar was just.... Well, he was Jar-Jar.

Jar Jar doesn't bother me as much as he bothers other people. Maybe that's because I'm always looking at other...things...:p

He spoke first, and in that voice... then Obi-Wan took his hood down and that was that... :x

Where was I when this happened?

You were much too young for such things.... LOL

It reminded me of a chariot race

That would bore me, too... short attention span!

I'm a Jedi Junkie.

Yeeeeeeesssssssssssssssss...........:^O

IMHO, the PT was...necessary to the storyline. I like watching Ray Park do his thing...and the rumpled Jedi too, but that's it. Otherwise, give me the OT, baby. :D

My sister gasped when she saw Ewan McGregor the first time. When she asked me who he was and I told her it was Obi-Wan, she couldn't believe that old guy from the originals was now being played by a handsome young man.

I love the pic of the rumpled Jedi, gl, but they don't look particularly rumpled there. ; Powerful and determined. Wow!!!

Wow, how time flies! TPM is 10 years old already??!!! :O

I must admit, I enjoyed the first prequel. Immensely. Sure, I'm in the minority, but I will admit that. That's not to say I loved every aspect of it. Admittedly, the pod race ran a bit long for me. It's the only part of the saga through which I will doze. I know GL enjoys his races, but I just can't get into them. I feel the same way about chariot races, too. The only one I've ever enjoyed is the famed race in Ben Hur - but that's more about what is going on between the two principal racers than the race itself.

Over the last 30+ years, I have been a staunch Luke Skywalker :x fan, and through Luke, :x a fan of the Jedi. But it was through TPM that, like you, I became a Jedi Junkie. :) Here's where we learn what they're really all about. :D Mmmmmmmm. :D

(I will doze. Um, let me rephrase. I can doze. This doesn't necessarily mean I will. :^O)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :D
