GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN, MY MASTER

The first time I saw Obi-Wan on Mustafar in Star Wars Galaxies, he led me on a mission that tested my resolve as a Jedi Knight.

Later I went back and tried to summon him again, just to see how he was doing, and I got the message "What has been done cannot be undone," and he did not appear.

So imagine my surprise, while roaming the burning plains, he appeared to me out of nowhere. "Good to see you again, Gidrea Lightsky," he said. "You are a hero unlike any other, my young friend."

Wow, Obi-Wan came out of hiding and spoke to me! Woo hoo! I don't know about the "young" part, but I suppose after the millions of years he's been hanging out there I probably do seem young to him.

Mustafar. The place where Obi-Wan suffered his greatest failure. Not the failure of Anakin's training, for I think he did the best he could with that. But his failure to destroy him, his failure to kill him and destroy the evil monster he had become. His failure that cost the galaxy dearly over the next 19 years.

Would it be any wonder that he'd haunt Mustafar?

In the game, in the background of the cantina at the mining facility, there are Mustafarian miners chatting, and one of them says that he saw that ghost fellow again the other day. His friend tells him he's crazy, of course, but he insists that he's seen him. And he says that the ghost doesn't seem mean or anything, and in fact he gives him a peaceful feeling.

Going to Mustafar to find peace. And he spends his afterlife helping young Jedi like me. Only a Jedi would do something so selfless.

A true Jedi, one with a good heart and a conscience. Obi-Wan.

WOW!!! :D

That is waaaaaaaaaaaay cool, gl! :) I really have to start playing SWG. I have it, but my youngest padawan absconded with it the day after I got it. ; Have seen neither hide nor hair of it since. (if a game can have a 'hide' or 'hair'. :^O)

And I couldn't agree with you more -- Obi-wan is, indeed, a true Jedi. :)

MTFBWY :)

And your skills with a keyboard. ;)

"Good to see you again, Gidrea Lightsky," he said. "You are a hero unlike any other, my young friend."

He sure knows how to flatter you, doesn't he? (I accidentally typed "He sure knows 'hot' instead of 'how' :p )

Millions? He's not that old!

And he says that the ghost doesn't seem mean or anything, and in fact he gives him a peaceful feeling.

That's really beautiful.

And Obi-Wan's really a great Jedi.

Absconded with it? You mean she ran off with it? :^O You should join us, Melinda! That would be very cool!

Cool encounter! And I especially like that the Mustafarians chat about his ghost--that was a nice touch of the game designers'.

Obi Wan did his part leaving Anakin alive.

Playing devil's advocate, wouldn't it have been showing mercy to kill Anakin and put him out of the torture of being burned alive?

Ok, that line just made me gag on my burrito...LMAO. :^O

Young? What know of you being Young?

Lying about your age to Obi-Wan's ghost is a path to the dark side, giddy...ROTL

Nobody here is as young as the cap'n. :p

I was thinking about this blog while watching my new absolute favorite Clone Wars episode of all eternity, Voyage of Temptation. You know, the life of a Jedi is no piece of cake. It's a life of contradictions. You're surrounded by people you love, but not permitted to allow your attachments to cloud your judgement. You sacrifice your life to a cause, but live so every cause is allowed to flourish.

Sorry, one of my poetic moment. Can't help it. ;)

Sorry, one of my poetic moment.

And, of course, I make a dumb grammatical error. :^O "Moments!"

He's the one who said "young" not me... who am I to argue with a great Jedi Master? LOL

Yes, it would have been more merciful to kill Anakin to end his suffering, and it says so in the novel of ROTS... but it also says that Obi-Wan wasn't feeling particularly merciful at the time.

I do wonder if years later, when hearing about Vader's atrocities... wouldn't he regret not having killed him as he was ordered to do? I sure would...

No, life as a Jedi is not easy. That's what makes them so special.
