The time has come to make the $15 decision: do I want to renew my Hyperspace or not?
Judging by the state of the blogs, the answer is "no".
There was a time when these blogs were hopping. Several entries a day, and clever entries they were. But now things are just not the same. Too many bloggers have "gone to black" or missing entirely.
Darthgenious7, Lord_Noctifer, darthlando22, 21212121212, Oboe-Wan, JediMasterPickles, darthgenious7, Rive Caedo, jediprincess77, janlomona, Rogueish, Michelle1968, Viridian Saber, anakinside1, Kenobi-fan, Granny-Wan, Lady Shada, Marvolo7, jkelly, YoshiYoda, DarthVicomte, warthog jedi, Evil Darth Bear, Sarlaac-Pitt, jk thunder, Darth Rex0... just to name a few!
Interest in Star Wars hasn't waned; I think folks are just tired of this blogging site. It hasn't been updated, the Featured Blog of the Day is simply the same two dozen or so blogs being rotated, some of which are not active and haven't had entries in years.
The same with the Most Popular feature. Sure, you can tell me the computer does it, but I won't believe you. I had an entry there once that dropped 1100 places overnight. Don't try to tell me that 1100 blogs, some of which were 3-4 years old, got clicked on in an 8-hour period. I'm not that gullible.
In spite of the politics, religion, and censorship, it's been a fun time. But unless I miss the other content on the site I won't be paying the $15. I'll still be around to comment.
And if I think of anything to blog about, I'll be back.

While I have quit blogging, I still live on through my artwork. Contrary to what some may think, I have not quit yet despite the recently slow update. I'm just very busy with college at the moment.

I'll miss you, Gidrea, but I can understand. The blog and a picture next to my name aren't enough to keep my coming back for Hyperspace, either.
That said, these last couple of weeks have seen a treasure trove of exclusive articles published, from the Nagai/Tof War article to the Dex's Diner Menu to Xim Week. If something like any one of those appeared every month, I would be a very happy Hyperspace customer--and this month, I have been.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't blog very often, but like to read the new entries and comment when I have time. My membership equates to about 8 british pounds and isn't too bad, but not sure I will be renewing next year...
Going to keep a look out to see if things improve.

A very good point. Although I really like this website and all the virtual friends I've made, I really see no reason to renew my Hyperspace. I might in a little while just because, but besides being able to write blogs, Hyperspace doesn't do much for me. I think that there was an announcement going around a year ago that the blogs were going to get a makeover. I went over to the message boards and posted what I wanted to change. I wonder what happened to that? :O We'll miss your blogs Gidrea!

Today just proves my point... the Featured Blog of the Day hasn't had a new entry since June 2008, and "Your Presence is Soothing" is still in the most popular along with a couple of other entries that are years old.
I prefer Blogger, too. It's free and had better features. Blogging here has a built-in audience, but that's dwindling, too.
Today I got an email reminding me I have only one day left! With the shocking footnote that if I want the actual Membership Kit that comes in the mail, I have to pay an extra $5! For that envelope full of advertising??? I don't think so...

I've been reading the blogs from the beginning and making comments occasionally. I only recently started a few of my own blogs. Call me a die hard if you wish, but I log in almost every day to see what's new. There hasn't been as much lately true, but it's still fun to me. I plan an renewing.
I wonder if it's just a sign of the times/economy that everyone seems busier and they don't have as much time to check in or blog?

Yeah I have been thinking the same thing. My membership is up in March I believe. I haven't blogged in 3 months which is the longest I've been away from the blogs. I had one or two blogs that people actually showed some interest in, while my others were mostly only commented on by my friends (MasterMonkey being one of them. How you doing by the way?). Which is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not really exciting as it used to be.
So when the time comes I will probably renew my membership for my awesome Hyperspace goodies in the mail and maybe to write a blog or two every once in a while. Other than that, I think I'll stick to reading Stooge's jokes and any other good blogs that come about.

I have been too busy with my son and move to Colorado (still living on freelance work while I look for full time work). I spend most of my time on the EUCantina.net forums. Most of my SW is coming from the EU anyway.
I renewed last year when the mods starting asking for new features leading me to believe an update was coming to the blogs/forums.
I will probably still renew in hopes of finding more time for blogging here, after all, this is what got into the SW community outside the offiicial site - so that was worth the money.

The blogs will never be what they once were, Giddy. What has been done will not be undone. It cannot be. And as much as that saddens me, I can't help but remember all the awesome times we had together here, and that prevents me from hating this place like I want to. ;)
You were blogging when I first got here, and you never could've made me believe that someday you'd stop of your own free will. You are as much a part of these blogs as the Clone Commanders and Divisions Roster that won't go away. You are as much a part of these blogs as the ever-rotating and ever-biased Featured Blog of the Day. You are as much a part of these blogs as the topics that never seem to go away, that we all grumble about but will keep on kicking around until the day we pass into the Force.

I hope you change your mind. I always enjoy your blogs, even if it takes me a while to get around to reading them (and the others that catch my eye). This year has just been one of those years when I don't have enough time to do some of the things I would like to do (like spend time here). Oh well. It's the cycle of life. ;
