Orlando sucks.
Florida in August sucks. It's hot and humid. Yes, I've heard of AC, but it doesn't help when you step outside your hotel and get hit with a blast of sauna air.
Orlando is next to Disney World, which means it's a tourist town and that makes hotels and restaurants expensive.
And the Boba Fett logo is the EPIC FAIL of all EPIC FAILS! If I do go, I won't have to worry about the celebration store, I wouldn't buy anything with that on it!
For crying out loud, it's the 30th Anniversary of Empire Strikes Back, why isn't Yoda on the logo! Or Vader!
Geez, thanks a lot, LFL...

I am excited about Orlando. Its going to be awesome! I have been there many times in July and August, and its not that bad. Also: "expensive"? Who cares! Its Celebration! I have already bought my plane tickets, villa, and car, and Im just waiting on the event tickets. I am very excited, and I was hoping for Orlando all along. Orlando....Here I come!! Yay!

People who don't have unlimited amounts of money.
I've been in Florida in August and the humidity is a killer. I'm used to heat, I lived in Arizona for 15 years... but I was never so happy to feel that desert heat than after a summer trip to Florida.
The southeast is the sweaty crotch of the country, and if you don't believe me, just look at the map.... LMAO

Still, Orlando is awesome. I have been there in July and in August, more than once, and its not that bad. Plus, you will be inside (or in a plane, or in a car, etc) for most of the time. I dont have unlimited amounts of money. But when it comes to Star Wars, I have no reservations. I will spend anything. Although, I would have went anywhere in this country for Celebration, Orlando is great. I am hoping to get VIP tickets!
Oh, and I think I recall hearing it was year of Boba Fett from an interview of Steve Sansweet at Comic-Con. I cant remember right now, but I think thats it.

Calm down and think this over Gidrea. One, It is as Zepherous said CELEBRATION ok???
Two, Orlando Is not half as humid as it could be. Three, the people in the area of Orlando(the people from there) are REALLY nice due to it being a tourist town. Four, Money? seriously you're going to gripe about money when it is Star Wars? Come on if your a Hyperspace member you should be more concerned about getting there, than where it is! Hotels arent expensive in Orlando. Its a common misconception. I know a guy that got his hotel for the dates (all of them) for around 300$. Albeit, I cant really say because I stay in a villa in Orlando.

Not Donald Trump or Bill Gates, but just about everybody else. Oh, they care, too. Otherwise, they wouldn't be interested in making large sums of money. Yeah, I think expensive matters.
On another note: 2010 is the year of Boba Fett. That is why he is on the logo.
Says who? Says you? Until you produce a link to Mr. Lucas issuing his final surrender to stupidity and dedicating a whole year to a bounty hunter who made three minutes of screen time only to die the death of the lamest of all lame character, says you, and no one else.
One, It is as Zepherous said CELEBRATION ok???
That they claim will be the "biggest and best ever," but I have more reason to have reservations about that statement than faith in it. They almost couldn't negotiate this thing in the first place, so what makes you think it's going to be well conducted? All evidence is to the contrary thus far.
Two, Orlando Is not half as humid as it could be.
You're right. It's more humid under the Atlantic Ocean.
Oh and to add in...I freaking LOVE Boba He is the Best Around (Song reference intended).
What is it about him that appeals to you? The oversized, awkwardly painted bucket atop his cloned head? The obviously contrived Wilhelm scream he uttered when he died? His useless and dues ex machina-ish resurrection?
The original Star Wars saga is about the Skywalker family. That's what a "saga" is: a narrative about a family and their influence upon history. Star Wars later expanded to include other sub-characters and sub-plots, but everything is sub the original heart and soul of Star Wars: the Jedi Order. That's why we have Fate of the Jedi, Legacy of the Force, New Jedi Order, Jedi Quest, Jedi Apprentice, The Force Unleashed, Last of the Jedi...etc, etc, etc,

The Empire Strikes Back -- which the film we are "celebrating" in this Star Wars Celebration -- is about the experiences of a Jedi. On the logo, Yoda would've made sense, Luke would've made sense, even Vader would've made sense. To me, Boba doesn't makes sense.
Someone isnt very versed in Star Wars.
I would be careful when making hasty statements about who is and who "isnt" versed in Star Wars. I could say that you're not very versed in grammar, too, but I wont. ;)

He murders for money, is that what Star Wars is about? Is that the message to be sending to the young kids who are attending this Celebration because of The Clone Wars?
If you want to talk bounty hunters, let's talk bounty hunters. Calo Nord, the Moomo brothers, Mira. These are bounty hunters.
I do love striking someones cord so they get defensive lol.
Yeah, and you do it so well! That's the funny part. Pure brilliance.

I've been reeling since I heard the news about CV. Orlando? In August? I have relatives who live down there, and as much as they want us to come visit, they always say, "don't come in the summer!"
And have our brethren who mentioned we'll all be inside ever make it to a Celebration before? Do they know how long we all stand in line outside??????? Imagine doing that in full costume! :O For hours!!! :O
Orlando may be a tourist town, and the residents may be nice as can be (most are really nice; that isn't the issue!), but let's be think about this.
All I can say is that I hope the organizers plan on crews walking up and down the long lines outside, starting at the crack of dawn, ready to provide first aid. And I'm not talking about misters that are going to ruin the hundreds of hours spent tooling and crafting carefully created costumes!!!
That being said, the timing is questionable. Yes, Master Mina, I know that is your birthday weekend. However, it also is the time of year when many of us are getting our college-bound youngsters ready to traipse off for another (or first) year of college. Not all go down the street!
Those of you who know me know I was pulling for Chicago. Centrally located, one of the nation's largest cities, easy to get to from everywhere and one heck of a city. At the end of the day, when the con would close up, there'd be lots (and that's an understatement!) to do! Not to mention the city has a wide range of hotel accomodations for every budget! And considering this was to be held in summer, at least Chicago's summers are manageable (I know. I grew up there.)
Quite frankly, I don't care about the logo. I never have. Location. Location. Location.
've been to 3 of the 4 Celebrations -- even braving the pouring rain in Denver for CI and the unseasonable cold of CIII in Indianapolis (it was supposed to be temperate, and that's how we packed! Little did we know . . . ;)) -- and I'd hate to miss this one. If we do go, I just hope it's well worth the expense. That's all I can say.

In my opinion, I wouldn't have minded seeing it in Chicago, considering I only live five hours away in Cincinnati. But to be fair, the midwest has had the con twice in Indianapolis, and the west had it last time in L.A., so it's only fair for the south to get it. Plus, EVERYTHING cool happens in Chicago, so I think that the Chi-town folks should stop crying that they don't get this one thing. But of course, that's just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

And no, I don't live near LA. Everyone who wanted Chicago lives near there. And the only folks defending Orlando seem to be from Florida!

( I only read first like 4 comments) I just want to say I defend Orlando...(and I don't live there).

Well, I'll say it again...
I'm excited about it being in Orlando! I love Orlando no matter what time of year.... maybe it's because I'm used to the heat here in Texas, but I'm still thrilled! :)
Count me in for a new blogger t!! Yippeee! :)
