He's Got to be Strong, and He's Got to be Fast, and He's Got to be Fresh from the Fight

"We'll handle this!"

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan don't bat any eye at the frightening visage of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace. They know it's up to them to chase this monster down, and they aren't the least bit frightened. They know it's their duty as Jedi, and as men of honor they fight to the death to protect not only the Queen, but the light side of the Force.

"Another happy landing."

Obi-Wan and Anakin disembark the Invisible Hand with hardly a hair out of place, after mounting an seemingly amazing rescue, a capture by Greivous and a daring escape, and a near fatal landing. All in a days work. Obi-Wan looks pretty damn good for a guy who was knocked unconscious for at least 10 minutes. But they are heroes. We expect it. Obi-Wan takes off for parts unknown, perhaps to have a drink and meet a "friend" while Anakin rushes into the arms of his wife. Fresh from the fight, indeed!

"Let's go, and don't forget the droids!'

Luke barks a quick order after saving them all from the clutches of Jabba, suffering no more that a scratch on his prosthetic hand. Thinking about death and danger? No, he's a Jedi after all.

He also looks calm and collected as he tosses his lightsaber aside and stated, "I am a Jedi," and virtually spits in the eye of the Emperor.

"Someone's got to save our skins!"

Princess Leia gets into the fray, and she's not even a Jedi at the time. But she's strong, and fearless and knows action is better than inaction when your life is on the line. "Get into the garbage chute" beats going back to a cell block to await execution!

"Sorry about the mess."

Han Solo may be a scoundrel, but he's a hero, too. Greedo didn't shoot first, he never shot at all. He threatened Han's life, so Han killed him. It was so cool.

So what is the point of all this rambling? I like heroes. One fresh from the fight would always be welcome at my door!

Of course not--"Sith Lords are our specialty." ;)

"Someone's got to save our skins!"

I actually think it's really awesome the way Mr. Lucas takes the Damsel-in-Distress motif and turns it on its head with Leia leading her own rescue mission.

That's gotta hurt!

Ah yes, the beloved Dr. Jones!

Damsel-in-Distress motif and turns it on its head with Leia leading her own rescue mission.

It was perfect! And a great inspiration to many young girls!

The super spambot has arrived! All personnel, clear the room immediately! :p

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan don't bat any eye at the frightening visage of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.

And the whole ritual at the beginning of the fight -- from the time the hangar door roll open to the opening chord of Duel of the Fates, to the time all three powerful proponents of the Force remove their robes and unhook their lightsabers, to the moment they first cross blades -- remains one of my favorite Star Wars moments. Seeing it at SWIC made me geek out and choke up. :^O

They know it's up to them to chase this monster down, and they aren't the least bit frightened.

I'm sure they have at least a tiny bit of fear, but what makes them true heroes is their ability to surpress it because they know they have a job to do. And they're not going to let anything get in the way, especially their own emotions.

But they are heroes. We expect it. Obi-Wan takes off for parts unknown, perhaps to have a drink and meet a "friend" while Anakin rushes into the arms of his wife.

Goodness knows poor Obi-Wan deserves it, after all he's been through! :^O This is another favorite moment of mine. The victory, after the struggle.

He also looks calm and collected as he tosses his lightsaber aside and stated, "I am a Jedi," and virtually spits in the eye of the Emperor.

And laughs in the clutches of evil. And saves the galaxy in the process. Beautiful, indeed.

But she's strong, and fearless and knows action is better than inaction when your life is on the line. "Get into the garbage chute" beats going back to a cell block to await execution!

If Leia has to go, be sure she's going to go down fighting, and take a couple of the enemy down with her! That's the kind of stuff heroes are made of.

Han Solo may be a scoundrel, but he's a hero, too. Greedo didn't shoot first, he never shot at all.

Actually, Greedo did shoot first. You can see it if you look hard enough. :p But Han's one of the truest of heroes, that's for certain.

Your blog has actually taught me something, believe it or not. (Yeah, and I'm not supposed to have school until tomorrow! ;) ) It taught me that the moments that make Star Wars truly great are the moment when our heroes have faced down death and terror, and emerged victorious despite everything. The quiet before the storm or after the rain.

So what is the point of all this rambling? I like heroes.

Me too! Heroes are individuals to look up to. They can be fictional or real, but it's all the same to me. If I can look to them for inspiration when I need to conjure up a bit of heroics myself, then that's what a hero is truly good for.

The super spambot has arrived! All personnel, clear the room immediately!

YAY!

I'm sure they have at least a tiny bit of fear, but what makes them true heroes is their ability to surpress it because they know they have a job to do. And they're not going to let anything get in the way, especially their own emotions.

That is the true telling of bravery... everyone has fear, but the brave do not let it stop them from doing their jobs!

Goodness knows poor Obi-Wan deserves it, after all he's been through!

I'll take care of him! :x

What is the Galaxy coming to? lol

That is the true telling of bravery... everyone has fear, but the brave do not let it stop them from doing their jobs!

And that makes it all the more tragic if they perish while doing it. But that's why they're heroes, and I'm not. :p

What is the Galaxy coming to? lol

Between this and my love of the Mando arc, I think it's going crazy! Or I am. :^O

"Then I'll see you in hell"...

Han the man at his best while leaving the Rebel base on Hoth to look for his friend, LUKE. :D

Wonder what would happen if I use that as a title for a blog on here? ^O

"You won't kill me..."...LUKE facing evil straight in the face. He is a true champion. :D

The super spambot has arrived! All personnel, clear the room immediately!

We're all doomed.....Not a statement made by a hero...LOL

I dragged myself into work even though my freaking allergies are kicking my butt. Now that is a true sign of heroism...LMAO. :^O

"You won't kill me..."...LUKE facing evil straight in the face. He is a true champion. :D

Too many faces in that sentence...how about...LUKE staring evil straight in the face...LMAO
